I’m NOW a Tweeter…geez what’s next?
1st blogs, LinkedIN, Facebook, avnetOnDemand. Now Just shoot me, I broke down, I gave in…I’m a tweeter: almaagAvnet . What’s next in this social media world…beam me up? I still say there is nothing social about this…if you really want to be socialable call me or or take me to lunch. Hell send me a wriiten note or even a fax. Because I’m responsible for our brand and work w/ Michelle on all our PR I will be using my tweets on this area. Please GOD strike me down if I say I’m bored in a meeting or telling what I’m eating. Gotta go do some tweeting.

Perhaps the value of social media within the context of internal communications is that it provides the employee with a voice. We now live in an era in which people want to have their ideas heard and play a role in decision making — just watch American Idol. Blogs and other online communication tools are being significantly underutilized by many companies, especially in the B2B sector. Employees at Avnet should really consider taking advantage of Avnet’s leadership in this area. I would encourage you to post your opinions and views and join the conversation!
Thanks for kind words…again it starts at the top our leadership team wants consistent, honest communication…live in town halls, emails, video etc …and we have been doing alot in the social media area…from blogs by Roy Vallee and Rick Hamada to our blog, interactive forums etc by our groups and now AvnetOn Demand…we had an expert come to our leadership meeting and 80% of our global leadership stayed an extra 3 hours to hear him (after the offical meeting ended) 18 months ago…so we have been all over this…I can’t say everything we are doing but trust me our leaders know the importance of communication…according to our employee survey we have world class scores. I know I’m proud.
