Putting Fun into Fundraising

Was on vacation last week … a fabulous trip to the mountain country in Show Low, Arizona. Am still in catch-up mode today, even after a week back. Still slogging through the hundreds of emails that came in while I was gone. Arrrggg. Can you relate? I sure hope not! This is torture.
And, speaking of Arrrggg and torture. Tomorrow is International Talk Like a Pirate Day. Since I’m a big fan of pirates, especially if they look like Johnny Depp, thought maybe I’d focus on the light-hearted and fun things one can do with community outreach projects.
For example, From September 14th – 25th, the Avnet Cares – Arizona team will be hosting a pillow drive fund raiser. We are doing this on behalf of Bridging Arizona, a Phoenix-based furniture bank. Bridging Arizona’s Vision Statement is “No Child Within Our Reach Sleeping Directly on the Floor.” Learn more about them, a great organization.
Avnet has five different offices in the Phoenix metro area and all five of them are doing different things to spark interest in this fundraiser. Contests for example. They range from a pajama contest to a “best bed head” and the “most outrageous slippers” competitions. The employees are getting creative. It’s nice when you can add some fun to your fundraising.
Most of the contest happen next Friday. Can’t wait to see the results. Yo ho, mateys.
