Resolution Copper
In early 2009, Resolution Copper launched a campaign to facilitate ongoing education about our mine development project and proposed land exchange. Though the campaign still leverages traditional tactics — paid advertising, strategic media relations, and stakeholder engagement — we agreed to launch into the world of social media. (If you’re like me, you still find social media applications a bit unsettling).
The campaign began with an initial blog and later transformed into a comprehensive website. Securearizonasfuture.com is not only an online resource to learn about the economic and environmental benefits of the project, it’s also a means for people to learn more about our community relations efforts. The blog has a specific section dedicated to our efforts in the community. The forum is an opportunity to highlight the company’s substantial philanthropic contributions and partnerships with environmental, educational, regional and state organizations.
The blog, website and Flickr presence are additional means of communicating our commitment to strategic philanthropy and meaningful community relations programs. We keep the postings simple, and encourage comments.
Telling a company’s community relations story is challenging, especially when the competition is fierce and the space is limited. A blog and website is a practically limitless arena to engage, learn and listen. The community relations portion of the website is one I hope to see grow, as feedback will help strengthen our future philanthropic program as well as help us identify cross-sector partners that can help contribute to our communities success.
