One Week to Game Day!

Teri’s on travel this week and she asked me – Linda T. – to share a few more details about the Avnet Tech Games (ATG) which is only one week away! Well, it’s shaping up to our most exciting competition yet! We have more faculty, students, and teams slated to participate this year than ever before. We’re thrilled to have $50,000 to give away for student scholarships and faculty honorariums . . . and we intend to give away every penny!

If you’re in the mood for a little excitement, stop by the University of Advancing Technology at 2625 W. Baseline Road in Tempe and check out the action.

That’s the nuts and bolts, but if you really want to fine tune your ATG viewing, don’t miss the following –

• AMD Build and Tune the Fastest Computer – see the computers get built in the morning and tuned in the afternoon
• Patch Panel Madness – view the frenzied activity all morning and into the afternoon as teams get ‘wired’
• Multimedia Fast Break with the Phoenix Suns – view the finalists  from 10 to 11 a.m.
• Project Greenlight LED Challenge – watch students convert a camping lantern into an LED wonder in the morning and see the judges’ results in the early afternoon

And of course, no visit to the ATG would be complete without viewing the always popular Robot Race Obstacle Course, which begins at 12:30 p.m.!

From the Accenture Tech Challenge to the VMware Virtualization Challenge – there will be lots to see!

In addition, we just launched a new online contest. By posting the Avnet Tech Games flyer in a visible public place, taking a picture of it and posting it on Flickr, you could win a Starbucks gift card or Arizona Diamondbacks tickets!
