It is with great sadness that I relinquish my title as PR News Community Relations Person of the Year.  I had to turn in my tiara and my scepter.  They had to pry the tiara out of my cold, dead hands.  :-)

However, I can still claim to be the last reigning queen of this category.  The new category, even broader and bolder in scope, is for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Leader, and this year’s winner is quite deserving of this new and improved award:  James Wright, Director of CSR Division, Trimedia International.

James has eclipsed previous winners by being only 29 years old, and worked with then Prime Minister Tony Blair on the launch of Britain’s Telemedicine service.  Geez.  Is that all?  Nope, it’s not.

He’s also established himself as an influential member of the CSR community in Europe, having set up the CSR division at Trimedia two years ago.  Since then, Wright has risen through the ranks, making a name for himself working with blue-chip clients such as BT, Coca-Cola, Costa Coffee, Land Rover and WorldVision.

But wait, there’s more.  Because of the work James did in launching Trimedia’s World Blood Donor Day in July 2005, he was invited to become a communications advisor to the World Health Organization on blood issues.

I’m tired now.  I think I will go home and have a queen-sized bowl of chocolate ice cream!  You go, James.  But seriously folks, this is a most impressive resume.  One that give me much hope for the future.  It makes me very happy to see a younger generation that has this kind of energy, drive and vision.  Maybe this time we really do have a generation who can change the world.  One can always hope.
