Powertip’s Family of Full Color OLED Displays now available!

Original Post by Bob Waddell, Jan 8, 2009

OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) is a light-emitting technology composed of a thin, multilayered organic film placed between an anode and cathode.  In contrast to LCD technology, OLED does not require a backlight.  OLED possesses high application potential for virtually all types of displays and is regarded as the ultimate technology for the next generation of flat-panel displays.

Powertip is now offering the first family of full-color OLED displays to the distribution market in the following sizes and resolutions:

  • 2.0” 176 x 220
  • 2.4” 320 x 240
  • 2.8” 320 x 240
  • 3.4” 480 x 272
  • 4.3” 480 x 272

Why should you consider Powertip’s OLED displays?

  • Powertip’s OLED displays have super-high contrast ratios of 10,000:1
  • Ultra wide viewing angles ( 170 degree typical)
  • OLED modules are ultra thin (from 1.3mm to 2.8mm)
  • Since OLEDs emit their own light, no backlight is needed
  • Can be operated at a low power consumption – for example, the 2.8” model operates at only 35mW at 30% pixels on
  • Very wide operating temperatures (-40C to 85C)
  • Select models are available with built in touch screens

Powertip’s OLED displays are a smart choice for your next handheld product design!
